Hi again!
Last night I has hanging around in Youtube (I do that a lot), just looking for something to watch, and I remembered Alf! You've probably heard or watched it, but in case you don't know what's the show about, I'll tell you! Alf is a TV show that ran during the late 80's in the US, and it's about an alien that crashed on Earth and was adopted (so to say) by the human Tanner family! I know, if you didn't watch it, it probably sounds stupid, but I grew up with it!
Just in case you are confused, here in Venezuela the American TV shows used to take a while to appear (this is not the case now-a-days), which is why I saw it around the years 1994-1998 (more o less - I am terrible remembering dates). Anyway, it watched some episodes in Youtube (sadly I didn't find any in Spanish, and I really didn't relate much with the English voices) and they were sooooooo funny! They reminded me of why I love the show: simple innocent comedy. It was a bit traumatizing to read in Wikipedia that the actor who played Willie (Alf's adoptive father) hated the puppet because it got better lines than he did... I always thought of them as a happy family on- and off-set, and the news was just heartbreaking... (tears...).
Another show that I loved was Becker. I really don't know how popular it was when it was running (Wikipedia didn't mention anything about that), but that's a show that makes me LAUGH! I remember I used to watched it every Friday on Sony Entertainment, and that I used to look forward to it every week. Too bad they fired Reggie towards the end of the show - I loved her sarcastic remarks.
Friends! How could I not talk of Friends! I watched every episode at least three times and every time they made me laugh! And the bloopers are the best I've ever seen of any show! To be sincere, I prefer the first seasons that the last ones: once Rachel had the baby, the whole show kind of changed. Maybe it was just me, because everybody else seemed to love it even more... I remember that I used to watch the first seasons on Sony, but then they stopped showing the series and they began it in Warner Channel. Feel free to call me crazy, but I have never been able to watch a whole 30 minutes of TV in Warner because something of the colors of the channel molests my sight... the tone of the colors or the resolution or something... I don't know, for some reason it just makes me look away from the TV... (time to call the psychologist, I know).
To be honest, I'm not fond of any of the newer (after 2000) series. The first season of Desperate Housewives was alright, but after that it just got sick. Series such as Heroes, Prison Break, Grey's Anatomy, etc just don't capture my attention. I have a question: does anyone else find that ALL (and I mean ALL) the actor in Grey's Anatomy are ugly? I'm not saying that their acting is not good, nor that I don't watch the series because of that, but isn't it true???
The Nanny! (the one with the nasal voice) That one is competing with Friends as to which one is the funniest for me! I loved that series! I used to watch it every time I came back from school, and in the evening too. Caroline in the City! Remember that one! It had it's funny moments! I loved the sulky nature of Richard, and his platonic love for Caroline. Third Rock from the Sun was also fantastic. It was funny to watch how ridiculous humans looked to them (it makes you see how some of the things that humans do are stupid!)
Mysterious Ways was also great. Remember it? The one with the man with the cat that brought the next day's newspaper. It was interesting (I like to call it the pre-CSI).
And finally (for now, because I remember so many more!) Everybody Loves Raymond! Who didn't love that show? For me, Debra and Marie's relationship was the highlight of it. And the Raymond-Robert feud was just endless (and endlessly funny!).
Here is the funniest clip I found on Youtube of Everybody Loves Raymond. Enjoy!

Thoughts on Players and Music
Ok, post number 2 for the day. Hopefully this one will be better! Haha (it's still late at night)
I am so happy that I downloaded the new RealPlayer (version 11)! I love Annabell The Sheep! (Even though I must admit that she doesn't follow the rhythm of Vivaldi's Four Seasons - haha). Every time I look at the player something odd is happening: disco lights, aliens, other sheeps... She just lightens up my day!
Another feature that I love of the new Real Player is the ability to download videos from Youtube (as you may have noticed, I am a Youtube fan)! No more strange programs of a questionable origin to do it! And the size of the files are not big (7-8 mega per video of not-so-good quality. I only have 40Gb of memmory in my computer... I have to keed the files small).
In my facebook page I found a great application, it's called iLike. You can select what artist, songs and videos you like and it can be displayed in your profile! Ok, so it's not the GREATEST thing on facebook, but it kept me occupied for a while. And yes, I like everything that has to do with selecting the things you like from a list!
One of my favorite videos of all time is Bad Day from Daniel Powter, and the song is really romantic... You can see that there was an actual thinking process before making the video (please keep in mind that most of the videos I see are of reggaeton). Katy Perry's song Thinking of You is also ok. I was repulsed when I first saw the video for I Kissed a Girl, but what can I say? The song is too catchy to just stop it. It's the type of song that once you hear it, you've got to so it again and again. Something similar happens with Gloria Trevi's Todos Me Miran... (noooo, I can't find it in Youtube now!!! - tears)
Well, I think I'm going to leave it to here tonight (or my jokes will start getting really bad). See ya!

The Girls Next Door
I never would have imagined me making a post about The Girls Next Door... Oh well, unpredictable post happen when you don't know what else to write (haha).
I used to watch it sometimes before I came to Caracas (I have no E! here - tears in my eyes). At first I thought that it was just plain stupid and superficial, but afterwards I started appreciating how relaxing it was. You've got to give it some credit: no murders, stupid jokes or predictable story lines (well... it has no story). It kind of reminds me of Seinfeld, where they always said that the story was that there was no story (My jokes tend to get bad at night - consider yourself warned).
Anyway, since I don't have cable anymore, neither in Caracas or in my hometown (many many tears in my eyes), I haven't been able to watch it in about a year. I somehow remembered it and I youtubed it. I saw an episode from season 5. It was just as carefree as I remember it. They were painting I don't know what house, and since they are so happy and have complete access to millions of dollars they could do whatever they wanted... If you ignore the creepy old guy, it seems a nice life.
I read that Holly (right?) broke up with Hef because they couldn't have children... Oh well, I suppose it's the best for her, maybe she'll get someone better (and by better I mean a bit closer to her age).
Mm, whoever is reading this now will probably be thinking: "so... what's your point?" I just realized I don't have a point (haha - bad jokes, remember?). Hey! I just got another idea for a post - I'll do it right now!

Britney Spears' New CD
Hello again!
Just out of curiosity I heard Britney's new CD. I haven't heard any of her other CDs after Oops I did it again (Yes, it's sad). Maybe because I just got fed up of hearing it, but I found that only the first seven songs are catchy, the rest didn't really get to me. Of the ones I did "like" (I'm talking about the rhythm of them - I rather ignore the lyrics and don't read between the lines), I found that there were some sort of modern version of her past songs... or other popular songs. I don't know if this only happened to me, but when I heard her songs it was like: Oh yeah, this is similar to... I couldn't quite put my finger on which song it was, but they definitely remind me of other songs - maybe that's why I think they are catchy. I think I heard a Pachelbel Canon somewhere... but I might be crazy.
Now, my analysis not ignoring the lyrics: she's got issues. All her songs criticize someone, in a kind of obsessive way (it's not my fault that all the choruses are repeated 4-5 times - haha I'm just exagerating - right?). I find that her songs show her fed up of life, that she is somehow desperate. I don't blame her - she has been through a lot these last few years.
I saw on Youtube her videos of Womanizer and Circus. Let's start with Circus: I wouldn't have thought that she'll take the title so literaly. The video really shows a Circus. I expected something unrelated to it, since that seems the fashion now for video clips - but maybe that's was the idea: make everyone give a big waou to something unpredictible because it was so predictible. About Womanizer, well... mm... I would have put a "Not suitable for children under 16" on it; if you've seen it, I'm sure you'll understand why. But maybe it's just me being conservative, the maturaty of children and teenagers now is always surprising to me (in case you are curious, I'm 20, so I'm not a -teen anymore).
And in case you were wondering, I didn't have to think so much to come up with this post. I was hearing the CD and it just came to me that I should write my opinions here. It kind of fells great, my friends haven't listen to the CD yet and I haven't had chance to comment about it with anybody.

About Myself
I just this moment had an idea for a post: I'll write some background information (I am very creative, aren't I?)
I live in Venezuela (for those who don't know were that is, it's in South America, north of Brazil and East of Colombia), which means that I speak Spanish. Why am I writing this in English? My family on my mother's side is from an English speaking country, so I learned it from them. I can have some mistakes though (spelling is not my strong point), and some grammar issues, since I tend to translate directly from Spanish.
Some years ago I was studying Japanese, but I abandoned it when I started university. This trimester I was attending some classes (unofficially, since I didn't inscribe it), but it was only the first level. Even so, it was entertaining.
So now I live in the capitol, Caracas. Well... what can I say? I come from a not so big city (only 1 million inhabitants), and it's a much much more organized city than Caracas. However, if you ignore the fact that it can take 5 hours to go from one side of Caracas to the other and that you can be killed on your way home, it's not so bad to be here (haha... yep, it's pretty bad).
I am in the fourth year of a Licentiate in Biology (1 and a half years more and I finish!). I still don't know exactly what I want to specialize in, but I can tell you what I don't what to do: ecology, systematics, taxonomy... I prefer the cell and molecular level.
Well... that's it for now. At the least it was longer than my last half-a-post... I'll continue thinking on what I could write about.

First Day
Hello!
Ok... well, this is the first time I open a blog or anything similar, so I don't know how it'll turn out.
Hopefully I'll find something to blog about (my everyday life is incredibly boring).
